The “Meeting of the minds” conference will be held 24-25 January 2019, at Heritage Hotel in Auckland, New Zealand.

Aim of the conference

With the medical knowledge versus the reality of living with foetal anticonvulsant syndrome (FACS), it is time that there is a meeting of the minds. Together, working collabroatively, there can be a reduction of FACS, and for those already affected the opportunity to assist and empower them to reach their full potential. It is about collaboration, a holistic approach, equal partnership conversations, informed consent, and making a positive change. Everyone’s voice is valid.

The cost for registration for the 2 day conference is

FACS Families - $175.00

Organisations  & Individuals- $300.00

Healthcare professionals - $450.00

Oral Submission to the Health Select Committee

Denise Astill will be presenting on behalf of FACS NZ to the Health Select Committee. This has come from the petition asking for an inquiry into the numbers of babies harmed since 1966 due to exposure to  anti epileptic medicines during pregnancy, why it has occurred, is still occurring, and how to ensure informed consent.

The submission will be presented at Parliament Buildings, Wellington. Select Committee Room 4
